2. Splitting Up Together

Need another comedy but one set in the modern day? Splitting Up Together is something to consider. I’ll admit that I’m surprised this show was canceled when Fresh Off the Boat was renewed, but hey ho! That’s the way the networks play.

On its own, just looking at the ratings, it wasn’t that surprising the series was canceled. It failed to land a full season sophomore season and the ratings remained low.

Splitting Up Together offers a heartfelt comedy and will fit at home with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. When Martin and Lena think they’re definitely headed for divorce, they decide to start the paperwork. However, like Midge and Joel find in Mrs. Maisel, Lena and Martin still have feelings for each other. Splitting up reignites those feelings.

The feel-good element is why it deserves another chance. Without the pressure of live ratings, this should could do extremely well. I’d like to see Amazon give it a chance and add another half-hour comedy to its streaming service.
