When will A Dog’s Journey come out on DVD, Blu-Ray, and Amazon Video?
By Mads Lennon
A Dog’s Journey is the follow-up to the 2017 film, A Dog’s Purpose. It’s the perfect family film for the weekend, but when will you be able to take it home?
Many families will likely be attending screenings of A Dog’s Journey this weekend. The film is a tender comedy-drama about the life of a dog named Toby. Every time his life ends, his spirit travels to another dog and returns to the same family.
The movie is a follow-up to the 2017 film, A Dog’s Purpose, with Josh Gad returning as the voice of Toby. This time around, the movie will focus on a much older version of Ethan and his own family. Dennis Quaid also returns as Ethan Montgomery with Marg Helgenberger replacing Peggy Lipton as his wife, Hannah. Kathryn Prescott and Abby Ryder Fortson share the role of Clarity June, or CJ, the granddaughter of Hannah.

A Dog’s Purpose shares a similar plot line to the first film, with Bailey (formerly Toby) finding his new destiny and forming new bonds. The movie promises to be just as heartwarming as the original.
Surprisingly, it has been well-received by critics. Currently, it sits at 67% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, a substantial improvement over the first film.
If you enjoyed A Dog’s Purpose, odds are, you’ll enjoy A Dog’s Journey. So when can you take the movie home to enjoy?
Previous Universal Pictures releases, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and The House With the Clock in its Walls, released on home video about two months after their theatrical debut, which means you can expect A Dog’s Journey to come out on DVD and Blu-Ray in late July.
As for its Amazon Video release, typically Universal Pictures releases digital copies of its films two weeks before the DVD and Blu-Ray, in the case of A Dog’s Journey I would say you can anticipate an early or mid-July premiere date for Amazon Video.
