Amazon Books: April 2019 releases to check out

It’s a new month, which means that there are plenty of new books on the way. Here’s a look at some of the ones you should check out this April.

As I write this, I’m waiting for a couple books to be delivered to me. One is the art book for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which I ordered about four months ago and have been eagerly awaiting ever since. The other is the first book on our list of ones to check out this month, so let’s dive into it.

April 2

Keep Going by Austin Kleon

Austin Kleon’s newsletter is one that I find pretty enjoyable, so when he announced his new book (and the opportunity to get a free little poster with it), I jumped on the chance. Keep Going is about ways to stay creative no matter what’s going on. During good or bad times, there’s a way to keep that motivation. All creative people will want to check out this one.

The Last Stone by Mark Bowden

I know Mark Bowden as the writer of Black Hawk Down and admittedly not much else. When I saw that he had a new crime novel coming out, it piqued my interest. This is something that sounds like it’s right up my alley and if you also like crime stories, this is one to check out.

Lovely Little Things by Maureen Joyce Connolly

Two daughters are taken when a mother passes out in a bathroom. If you like suspense and that doesn’t grab your attention, then I don’t know what will. This book sounds like it’ll be a thrilling ride from start to finish.

Finder by Suzanne Palmer

This novel follows Fergus Ferguson, who is a criminal, to say the least. This science fiction novel is sure to provide you with a good laugh along the way. Fergus sounds like a fun, but untrustworthy character and that can make for a great story.

Free to Focus by Michael Hyatt

For those of you who like to focus on productivity, this is the book for you. This isn’t his first book, and it probably won’t be his last. He brings plenty of expertise to the table and is always worth a read.

April 16

Star Wars: Master & Apprentice by Claudia Gray

If you’re a Star Wars fan and you aren’t checking out the books that Claudia Gray has written, I highly recommend fixing that. You can even start with this one and then make your way back to the others. This one will dive deeper into the bond of Qui-Gon Ginn and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

No Country for Old Gnomes by Delilah S. Dawson and Kevin Hearne

Delilah S. Dawson and Kevin Hearne have both dipped their toes in the Star Wars universe, but this time they’re releasing the second book in The Tales of Pell series. You can easily get your fantasy fix with this one.

This searing light, the sun and everything else: Joy Division: The Oral History by Jon Savage

If you’ve read music books, you might be familiar with Jon Savage. His book England’s Dreaming is sitting unread on my shelf (too many books, so little time). Fans of Joy Division will want to pick this one up, though. Savage has been writing about music for a long time and he knows how to go in-depth on a band.

Neon Prey by John Sanford

Sanford continues his Prey series with the 29th installment in it. Lucas Davenport finds himself on the hunt for a serial killer and this one sounds like it’ll be quite the thrill.

April 30

SprawlBall by Kirk Goldsberry

We couldn’t leave out the sports fans. If you’re into the NBA, this book provides great visuals, courtesy of Aaron Dana. You’ll definitely impress some NBA fans if you have this one sitting on your coffee table at the end of the month.

While there are many more books due out this month, these are some that stood out to me. Always be sure to check out the coming soon section on Amazon for some other options.
