In danger: Happy Together

Network: CBS

Can you watch on Amazon Prime? It’s available through Amazon Channels with CBS All Access

What it’s about: Jake and Claire are quite happy in their “boring” lives. That is until pop star Cooper James decides to hide out at their house. He quickly helps them reconnect with the people they were when they were younger. Could the weird set-up be the perfect living arrangement for all three?

Why it’s in danger: Like Murphy BrownHappy Together was one of two freshman shows not to get picked up for a full season. It also failed to land a renewal at the same time as the likes of Magnum P.I.  and God Friended Me. This is immediately a worrying sign.

The ratings for the Damon Wayans Jr.-led series just weren’t that great. It was actually one of CBS’ worst performing shows and the network has never been kind to poorly performing comedies. You just have to look at 9JKL from last season! Out of all the shows on CBS, this is the one I’m most confident in saying it’s going.

Amazon should save: One Day at a Time

Number of seasons: 3

When it was canceled: This has been one of the most recent cancellations by the hands of Netflix.

What it’s about: Based on the 1975 series of the same name, One Day at a Time tells the story of single Army vet. Penelope, who is navigating life and the turbulence that is raising her Cuban-American family. Now a nurse, she is a single mother to two passionate and strong children, but she needs to turn to her own mother for help and support.

Why it needs to be saved: There’s no doubt that there’s a passionate fanbase for One Day at a Time. Amazon would be the perfect home, considering it’s already a streaming service’s show. The fans are used to the one-day drop for all episodes of the season.

But there’s more than that to this series. It’s one of the most progressive, positive, inclusive shows around. This is a show that has helped many people come to terms with who they are, improve their own lives, and see themselves on TV in a positive light. This needs to continue. Out of all the shows on this list, this is the one Amazon needs to save the most.
