Murphy Brown

Network: CBS

Number of seasons: 1

Why it’s in danger of being canceled: The revival is quite honestly a dead show walking. Murphy Brown is one of the only new additions to CBS in 2018 not to get an extension. Whether that was always the plan or not is unknown, but it’s likely a sign that the network has no hope in it.

In a way, it shows that revivals aren’t always wanted. As much as Murphy Brown was well-loved when it was first on air, there aren’t enough fans sticking around now.

While Murphy Brown isn’t the worst show on CBS as a whole, it isn’t carrying Thursday nights well enough. With The Big Bang Theory ending, the network needs a strong lineup to keep it’s place as one of the networks to watch on a Thursday night. The Candice Bergen-led show isn’t the one.

I have a feeling the season finale is going to be the series finale.

Ray Donovan

Network: SHOWTIME

Number of seasons: 6

Why it’s in danger of being canceled: I was originally going to put Shameless on the list, but further inspection led to be including Ray Donovan instead. The award-winning show may have good reviews but the ratings aren’t matching up. It’s seen a 38% drip in the demo, dropping all the way to 0.16 and the total audience has dropped 28% to just a little over a million on average.

The fact that it’s the third popular on the network in terms of total audience does help argue to keep it. With it being on a child network of CBS, there’s also a good chance of survival. However, CBS really could go either way.

Good news: Ray Donovan has been renewed for a seventh season.
