What is War about?
If you’re looking for a standard action revenge movie with kung fu added in, that’s what you’ll get with this offering. Statham plays a rogue FBI agent, who lost his partner three years earlier due to an assassin. His family has now walked away from him, but he’s determined to find the person responsible for the death of his former partner.
Where does Jet Li fit into this? He’s Rogue, the one that assassinated the friend and is the one that Statham’s character is after. Although, you’ll want to watch for the twists and turns throughout the movie.
As well as the two lead stars, John Lone, Sung Kang, and Terry Chen star in the action movie.
The trailer is on YouTube if you want to check it out.
Financial and critical success
Talk to the critics, and the movie isn’t well liked. However, talk to the audience and you’ll get an even split. Yep, Rotten Tomatoes sees the movie gains a 14% Tomatometer score but a 51% Audience Score.
Honestly, if you want an action movie that has the odd twist but is really just there for the fight scenes, this is the type of movie you’ll want to watch. It’s good for Statham and Li fans but it’s not full of storytelling.
It wasn’t a financial success at all, not even making back it’s budget without DVD sales. Even with the DVD sales, it only just made the budget back. Now that it’s on Amazon Prime Video, you can just sit back and enjoy it.
