Day 10 of the Christmas Countdown is all about the American action movie Collide. You can watch it now on Amazon Prime Video.

To give you something to do up until Christmas Day, Amazon Adviser is bringing you one movie a day to watch. They’re all from Amazon Prime’s December releases and Day #10 is all about the action movie Collide.

Released in 2016, the movie stars  Nicholas Hoult, Felicity Jones, Anthony Hopkins, and Ben Kingsley. It’s a movie full of drug smuggling, crime bosses, and proving how far you’re willing to go for love.

What is Collide about?

For those who have never heard of it, Collide is a movie for those who love Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley. It’s not got the greatest or most unique plot in the world, but it’s a good action movie to throw on while you get a head start on wrapping presents.

Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Days of Future Past, About a Boy and much more) plays Casey Stein. When he agrees to do a smuggle run for his boss, played by Ben Kingsley, he finds himself on the wrong side of a drug lord. German Kingpin Hagen Kahl (Anthony Hopkins) decides to take Casey’s girlfriend Juliette (Felicity Jones) and threatens her life.

How far is Casey willing to go for the woman he loves? What would you be willing to do.

Financial and critical success

I’m not going to sugarcoat it, Collide isn’t a movie that had any chance in winning Oscars. The $21,500,000 estimated budget was never recovered. In fact, the movie only made $2,531,521 around the world. Part of that was probably due to the lack of promotion — I don’t remember hearing anything about it — but another part is the reviews.

It’s not a unique action movie. You’ll be able to guess the plot, but isn’t that sometimes the fun. You get to just sit back and not really think. It’s one of those movies that works perfectly as background noise when you’re doing other things around the house and don’t want the silence.

When it comes to a Monday at work, it’s going to be perfect! Put it on with a beer or a glass of wine and just relax.
