First look at Felicity Jones and Eddie Redmayne in The Aeronauts
Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones have reunited for Amazon Studios’ The Aeronauts. Check out the first look and details of the upcoming movie.
After the successful collaboration on The Theory of Everything, Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones are reuniting for the Amazon Studios feature film titled The Aeronauts. With principal photography just beginning across the UK, the first look image has finally been released.
The image certainly doesn’t give much away, except that it’s all to do with a hot air balloon (the synopsis tells us that though!). It’s also clearly a period drama in case you hadn’t read the synopsis yet. It looks like Felicity Jones’ Amelia Wren has absolutely no fear of heights and exploration!
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child writer Jack Throne is teaming with Peaky Blinders director Tom Harper for the film, set in 1862. It follows an ambitious scientist and wealthy young widow, as they set off to go to heights never seen before by humans in a hot air balloon.

The expedition for James Glaisher and Amelia Wren is dangerous enough with using the balloon for the expedition, but they’re journeying into a part of the atmosphere where the air is thin and there are some very slim chances of survival. Are they willing to put their lives at risk to become a name in history?
While the first look image of The Aeronauts doesn’t give much away, it is an important one to show the levels the production is going for authenticity. That shot was taken with the balloon really in the sky. They were 2,000ft in the air at the time, with a helicopter getting the beautiful and stunning photography.

There are certainly some well-known faces in the movie, as well as Fantastic Beasts actor Redmayne and Rogue One actress Jones. Tim McInnery from Game of Thrones, Phoebe Fox from The Hollow Crown, and Tom Courtenay from 45 Years are all attached.
And as for photography, there’s no need to worry about getting the authentic feel of the period. Peaky Blinders and War & Peace BAFTA winner George Steel is taking over the role of Director of Photography.
It’s not just Jones and Redmayne who are reuniting from The Theory of Everything, either. David Hindle is one of the production designers, along with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them‘s Christian Huband.
