Irrfan Khan steps away from Amazon Original due to health issues

Irrfan Khan is no longer involved in the Amazon Original Gormint, previously known as Ministry. Despite it being ‘one of my most favorite ongoing projects,’ he needs to step aside to look after his health.

Irrfan Khan was set for the Amazon Original called Gormint. Previously known as Ministry, he was already in the middle of filming when he decided to step away to look after his health.

The Karwaan actor shared that earlier this year he’d been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor and now he is “fighting for choices.” Despite Gormint being one of his “most favorite ongoing projects and excited about the character and the show, he’s putting his health first.

In a statement on Facebook, he shared that the decision was made “with a heavy heart.” Both the character and show was enthralling and he’s been filming the project for months now.

It looks like the cast and crew have tried to work around his health problems recently. However, the ongoing situation is getting too much. The decision has been made jointly with the creators of the series.

Gursimran Khamba took to Instagram to share his kind words towards the talented actor. There is certainly disappointment in the air for all, but all everyone is wishing each other is luck. The project will still go on and Khan is looking forward to seeing how it all plays out in the end.

According to NDTV, Irrfan has been through four cycles of chemotherapy for the tumor and he has two more cycles left. He’s currently in London receiving treatment, which will also cause a problem with scheduling for filming the Amazon Original.
