The Grand Tour was the most watched Amazon original series on Prime Video in 2017. Amazon revealed the five most popular Amazon original shows streamed on Prime Video in 2017. In a rare move, the company also released a bunch of viewership data over the last 12 months.
An Amazon representative reached out to Amazon Adviser with the list of the most popular shows on Amazon Prime Video in 2017. The results might surprise you if you are new to Prime Video.
The Grand Tour premiered on the streaming service around the world in late 2016. The episodes have been available on the streaming service since then. The Grand Tour season 2 premiered on Prime Video on Dec. 8, 2017. New episodes are added to Prime Video every Friday through March 2018.
It’s no surprise The Grand Tour was the most watched show on Prime Video. Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May were incredibly popular for hosting Top Gear. After the trio left the show, Amazon created this Top Gear-esque car show to boost their following around the globe, and it definitely worked.

Sneaky Pete starring Giovani Ribisi and Bryan Cranston finished 2017 as no. 2 on the list of most popular Amazon originals of the year. With a new season coming in 2018, Sneaky Pete is in position to take the no. 1 spot this year.
This is where the list gets a little interesting. The Man in the High Castle season 1 and 2 landed no. 3 and no. 4, respectively on the list. I though the show would have been the most popular show or at least no. 2, but it came in third and fourth.
The Tick, which only released the first half of season 1 in 2017, came in fifth place on the list. It’s clear this show is in a great spot for Amazon in the superhero genre. If the second half of season 1 is as good as the first half, The Tick could be a contender for the top show of 2018.
