Amazon Prime Video offering more for the visually impaired
Cutting the cord isn’t easy for the visually impaired, but it’s starting to get easier. Amazon Prime Video is taking another step to offer more for those who need audio descriptions.
I remember when growing up there was barely anything for the visually impaired. My grandmother lost her sight when I was young and suddenly the TV was a thing of the past. She had it for her grandchildren when we came to visit, but she never watched it herself. There just wasn’t the support. Things have slowly started to change and now that includes through Amazon Prime Video.
For a long time, it was only through the normal TV that you’d get the audio descriptions. If you wanted to cut the cord, you had limited options, especially when it came to the latest movies. These audio descriptions explain everything that is happening on the screen, allowing the visually impaired to imagine the action and drama.

Amazon Prime Video is adding the audio to more than 350 movies and TV shows. And not just the lesser known options. Blockbusters like Jack Reacher, A Wrinkle in Time, and Transformers are getting the audio description treatment.
There’s great news for anyone, whether you have an Amazon Prime Video membership or not. If you do have one, then you can get access to the titles for free. Many are included in your Prime membership costs. Those who don’t can rent or buy the movies they’re interested in. Not all are included, so you’ll need to check the official Amazon site to find out which movies are included with your membership and those that are extra.
You get plenty of exciting options, whether you’re interested in Incredibles before the sequel is finally available on DVD and Blu-Ray or have Starz through Amazon Prime Channels for Wall-E.
