When will The Mummy be on DVD/Blu-ray and Amazon Video?
Find out when you can catch Tom Cruise in The Mummy on DVD/Blu-ray and on Amazon Video.
The Mummy is the big new release at the movie theater this weekend. The movie stars Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, Courtney B. Vance, Jake Johnson, Annabelle Wallis and Sofia Boutella and is the first in what could be a long line of a “Dark Universe” theme from Universal. The movie is rated PG-13 because it has some violence, action, partial nudity and some scary imagery. It may be best viewed on the big screen at the movie theater, but if you don’t feel like leaving the house when it’s above 90 degrees nearly everywhere in the United States this weekend, you may want to hold off a little while until The Mummy is released on DVD/Blu-ray and made available for digital download on Amazon Video.
Whether you’re seeing it in the theater or waiting to watch from the comfort of your home theater, we can provide a timeline for the viewer when they can get a copy of The Mummy. The movie was released on June 9 and that’s the starting point we use to provide a projection for the DVD/Blu-ray release date.
The minimum turnaround we look at for movies is three months, but it can often be a few extra weeks depending on the studio and the stay in the theater. That means the earliest The Mummy will be on Blu-ray/DVD will be Tuesday, September 12. And remember, DVD new releases only come out on Tuesday, so that’s why we don’t have it exactly three months after the theatrical release.

This date is not concrete and is merely a projection. It is the earliest possible date, but it’s very possible we’ll find out in a couple months that it’s coming out on September 19, 26 or even in the early part of October. When we get that news, this post will be updated to reflect the latest news regarding The Mummy DVD/Blu-ray release date. It will be available to rent or buy on Amazon Video one week before the DVD/Blu-ray release date if you can’t wait for the hard copy to be made available. You’ll also be able to pre-order the DVD in advance of the release so you can make sure you get your copy delivered on the day it’s released.
For now, we’ll project September 12 as the release date.
