Amazon Video Weekend Watchlist

The Wizard of Oz

For the first time, the classic movie is streaming. You won’t find The Wizard of Oz on Netflix or Hulu and the only way to watch it is on Amazon Prime Video. Added to the streaming inventory on May 1, this weekend is a great time to take a stroll down the Yellow Brick Road and relive the all-time great movie.

Gone with the Wind

Just like The Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind was added on May 1 and Amazon Prime Video is the only place to stream this legendary movie. You can’t call yourself a film buff if you haven’t seen this four-hour movie from 1939. The movie stars Clark Gable and  Vivien Leigh as Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara and their romance set in Atlanta during the Civil War.

Winter’s Bone

Before she was playing Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games or Mystique in the latest wave of X-Men films, Jennifer Lawrence was nominated for an Oscar and Golden Globe for playing Ree in the 2010 movie Winter’s Bone. The movie was also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Picture and John Hawkes received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Lawrence plays a 17-year-old in the rural Ozark mountains who is trying to track down her father. He’s a drug dealer who has disappeared but uncovers some clues about his whereabouts that could threaten to break up her family.

Catastrophe

For the second week in a row, Catastrophe is on our list of recommendations. If you didn’t get the message last week, you need to watch the best comedy on Amazon Video. Animal Kingdom

Before the season 2 premiere on May 30, you can watch the first season of Animal Kingdom on Amazon Video. Recently released in the last week, Animal Kingdom is about 17-year-old J, played by Finn Cole, who moves in with his extended family in Southern California after the death of his mother due to a heroin overdose.
