There are many family dramas around, but The Fosters offers something special. It’s one of the most inclusive and supportive shows around.

The series follows police officer Stef Adams-Foster and her wife Lena Adams-Foster. Lena is the vice principal in the area, and the two together raise their blended, multi-ethnic family. Brandon is the biological son of Stef and the twins Jesus and Mariana were adopted into the family. At the besting, the two also foster two other children, Callie and Jude.

Then there’s Mike Foster, Stef’s ex-husband and Brandon’s father. There’s this need to coparent and manage the children’s needs fully, which isn’t always easy. One thing the show has always done, though, is offer a realistic and positive view, even during the bad times.

It’s certainly not an easy life, but it’s theirs. And they will fight for what’s right to support their children. We get plenty of stories for all characters throughout the five seasons, offering full character development for them.

The Fosters spawned a spin-off, Good Trouble. The spin-off currently airs on Freeform.
