47. House of Lies

Release Year: 2012

Seasons: 5

Creator: Matthew Carnahan

Starring: Don Cheadle, Kristen Bell, Ben Schwartz, Josh Lawson, Dawn Olivieri, Donis Leonard Jr., Glynn Turman

The first of two shows on this list starring Kristen Bell, House of Lies ran for five seasons on Showtime and racked up Don Cheadle Emmy nominations and one Golden Globe win for his role. Based on the book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You the Time by Martin Kihn, Cheadle stars as ruthless management consultant Marty Kaan.

House of Lies also stars Bell as Jeannie van der Hooven, Ben Schwartz as Clyde Oberholdt, and Josh Lawson as Doug Guggenheim, Marty’s team at his firm. Together with his team, Marty does whatever it takes—really, whatever it takes—to close his business deals.

While focusing on the shady and often questionable business dealings of Marty and his team, the show also devotes time in the sordid personal lives of Kaan & Associates. From Marty and Jeannie’s romance to Clyde’s rollercoaster of a personality, House of Lies runs on all cylinders, making for the perfect comedy binge.
