The second musical comedy on this list, Flight of the Conchords was a quirky little show that left an impression on the television landscape, and then flew away just as quickly. Centered on the daily lives of a New Zealand folk band implanted in New York City, the HBO comedy offered something different than any other comedy of its time.

Jemaine and Bret (Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie) have their sights set on blazing into the New York folk scene, but with their clueless manager Murray (Rhys Darby) and one fan/stalker Mel (Kristen Schaal), hitting the big time isn’t without its many struggles.

Of course, Flight of the Conchords features comedic songs that pull from or shape the story of the episode. The song are often filmed in the style of a music video or an internal monologue, adding another layer to the Emmy-nominated series. Although there’s talk of a movie and the band still tours, the series produced 22 jam-packed and quotable episodes.
