How To Make It in America, much like a handful of HBO series, explored the subcultures of New York City. Bryan Greenberg, whom you might recognize from One Tree Hill and most recently The Mindy Project, anchored the series as Ben Epstein, an entrepreneur determined to attain the American Dream.

Along with his business partner Cam Calderon (Victor Rasuk), Ben works overtime to turn his ideas, designs, and connections into a profitable fashion label fit to compete with the top guns in the New York scene. Of course, like any 20-something trying to make it in America, Ben and Cam hit bumps in the road in business and in love.

With just two eight-episode seasons, How To Make It in America is the perfect precursor to HBO’s later New York City subculture success story Girls and an easy binge. If you’re looking for the motivation to start over and startup the American Dream, this is the stylish dramedy for you.
