50. Crisis in Six Scenes

Release Year: 2016

Seasons: 1

Creator: Woody Allen

Starring: Woody Allen, Miley Cyrus, Elaine May, Rachel Brosnahan, John Magaro

Created, written, and directed by Woody Allen, Crisis in Six Scenes marks the Hollywood legend’s first turn at taking his talents to episodic television. He’s proven his comedy chops with classic films like Annie Hall, Manhattan, and Hannah and Her Sisters, but all his award-winning has been strictly for big-screen features.

Now, Allen breaks into television like a wrecking ball with his Amazon original series Crisis in Six Scenes starring Miley Cyrus. The comedy series, which follows a suburban family during turbulent 1960s America, is something of a departure for the singer, given the bulk of her acting credits are for playing the title character Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana.

If you’re a fan of Woody Allen’s brand of dry comedy or have an affinity for a good period piece, add Crisis in Six Scenes to your list. As a limited series with only six episodes, it’s hardly a commitment to make for the sizable laughs you’ll get.
