37. Hello Ladies

Release Year: 2013

Seasons: 1

Creator: Stephen Merchant, Lee Eisenberg, Gene Stupnitsky

Starring: Stephen Merchant, Christine Woods, Nate Torrence, Kevin Weisman, Kyle Mooney

Based on Stephen Merchant’s stand-up special of the same name, HBO’s Hello Ladies premiered in 2013 and lasted for one season. In lieu of a second season, the cabler ordered a feature film to wrap up the series’ loose threads and to give it a proper sendoff.

Primarily co-written and directed by co-creator and star Stephen Merchant, Hello Ladies follows the struggle of an awkward, Los-Angeles-based Englishman’s quest to find the woman with whom he belongs. Stuart Pritchard (Merchant) calls on the support of his friends Jessica (Christine Woods) and Wade (Nate Torrence).

Hello Ladies adds another perspective to the influx of comedy series about the mystery of modern romance. With only eight uncomfortably funny half-hour episodes and a concluding movie marked by Merchant’s distinct sense of humor, Hello Ladies ranks among the best binges on Amazon Prime Video.
