David Duchovny, known for his role on The X-Files, returned to television in 2007 with Showtime’s Californication. Starring as Hank Moody, a one-hit wonder author with a bad reputation, Duchovny picked up a Golden Globe for his role.

Hank, still hung up on his ex, tries to co-parent his teenage daughter and fight his writer’s block as he moves to California. But the allure of sex, drugs, and drinking keep Hank from making the decisions that will help him get his life back on track.

Californication features an enviable supporting cast in Natascha McElhone, Pamela Adlon, and Evan Handler and a fearless leader in former Dawson’s Creek writer and executive producer, Tom Kapinos. To go along with its irreverent humor, Californication makes frequent references to popular rock and roll music, such as its controversial title.
