Among the first batch of original series to hit Amazon Studios, Alpha House paved the way for Amazon’s award-winning hit series. The political satire premiered in April 2013 during Amazon’s inaugural pilot season. Following its successful reception, the first season began streaming in November, and its second and final season premiered in 2014.

From the creator of the Doonesbury comic, Garry Trudeau, Alpha House follows the adventures (though misadventures could be more apt) of four Republican senators who cohabitate in the same house in Washington D.C. Interestingly enough, the series borrows its premise from real-life Democratic legislators living Big Brother style in D.C.

Fronted by comedy legend John Goodman and co-starring a great cast in Clark Johnson, Matt Malloy, and Mark Consuelos, Alpha House brings the political satire in the vein of Veep. Also, keep your eyes peeled during its 21 episodes, and you might catch cameos from politicians and celebrities like Bill Murray and Kelly Ripa.
