Will Percy Jackson and the Olympians come to DVD and Blu-ray?
If you’re a fan of the Percy Jackson books, you’ll want to check out the new Disney series. Percy Jackson and the Olympians tells the story of the first book, The Lightning Thief.
Yes, this did get a movie adaptation. You don’t need to watch the movies to understand the story. Nor do you need to read the books if you haven’t already, but it could be worth checking them out because there’s a lot in the novels that simply can’t convert to TV.
Of course, right now you need a Disney+ subscription to watch the series. Is this going to be necessary forever? Will you be able to add this series to your DVD collection?
Disney could bring Percy Jackson and the Olympians to DVD and Blu-ray
In the past, Disney made it clear that its subscription originals were not going to head to DVD and Blu-ray. However, Disney also said that that could change in the future. It all depended on the market.
Well, Disney shows have started to go to DVD and Blu-ray. We’ve seen the release of the likes of Loki and WandaVision head to DVD and Blu-ray this year. That opens the door for much more to head to physical disc. We could see Percy Jackson and the Olympians on DVD, but probably not until the end of 2024 at the earliest.
Doesn’t this take people away from the streamer? Well, not really. While people can watch on DVD at home, it’s still difficult to watch the show on DVD on the go. That’s why people will keep the streaming subscription. It’s also the main reason the streamers aren’t releasing their original content on Digital as that takes people away from their subscriptions.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is currently streaming on Disney+.
