Will Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead come to DVD and Blu-ray?

While this has got a theatrical release, it is a BET+ Original Film. It will head to the streaming platform in a month, and it brings up the question as to whether it will end up on DVD and Blu-ray. After all, not a lot of streaming movies head to DVD.

Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead will likely head to DVD

While streaming originals don’t tend to head to DVD and Blu-ray, Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead is heading to theaters first. We do see a lot of theatrical releases, even streaming ones, head to DVD. This is due to contracts and licenses in place when originally setting up the movies.

With that in mind, we’re expecting to see Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead head to DVD and Blu-ray in the near future.

When could the remake get a DVD release?

Now the question is when that could happen. It’s much harder to predict the release date of the movie on DVD when it is heading straight to streaming. We know the streaming date is May 16, 2024.

It is possible that BET+ wants to hold off on the DVD release. Some streaming movies take six to 12 months to head to DVD. That puts a potential release date for Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead DVD at around Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the earliest.

At the same time, we could see the plan to stick to a regular type of release schedule. BET+ is one of the smaller streaming platforms and will want to make the most of this remake financially. The DVD release is going to be the way to do that, so sticking to a two to three month wait makes more sense.

This is something that we’ll keep an eye on, because it is so hard to predict.
