We roughly know when Harold and the Purple Crayon will come to DVD and Blu-ray
We’re certainly here for fun family movies this summer. Harold and the Purple Crayon has no disappointed us, and the kids want to watch it again at home. Of course, you’ll want to check it out on DVD and Blu-ray, so when is that going to happen?
Harold and the Purple Crayon gives us the story of Harold, who can make anything come to life with his trusty purple crayon. That is in the confines of his book, or so he thought. He is able to draw himself in the real world, and his crayon brings things to life there.
When his crayon is taken by someone evil, Harold has to figure out how to prevent the destruction of both the real world and his own book world. It’s time to join him on that adventure.
Harold and the Purple Crayon potential DVD release date
With the movie only just out in theaters, there isn’t a DVD release date just yet. We can take a look at movies from the same studio to get an idea as to when we can expect it. For this, we’re looking at two other Sony movies, The Garfield Movie and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
Both of these movies took three months to go from theaters to DVD. We can see a similar pattern for Harold and the Purple Crayon, which means that we’re looking at around Tuesday, Nov. 5 as a DVD release date.
The Digital release date is going to be sooner than that. After all, we tend to get movies on Digital earlier, whether it’s to rent or buy. Other Sony movies have taken around six weeks, which means we’re looking at around Tuesday, Sept. 10. Just keep in mind that the DVD release is usually a combo set and that includes the code for a Digital copy of the movie.
