What is Foe coming to Prime Video about?
Some movies are full of twists and turns but in a quiet way that leaves you needing more. Foe is certainly one of those movies.
Starring Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal, Foe came out in theaters during 2023. Don’t worry if you missed it, as it is coming to Prime Video at the end of this week. If you’re in the mood for a drama that leaves you with complicated emotions, this is the movie for you.
Of course, you want an idea of what you’re getting yourself into before you watch it. The title doesn’t give too much away.
What is Foe about?
Ronan and Mescal play Hen and Junior. They live a quiet life, one that seems perfectly normal. Of course, things are turned upside down when a mysterious stranger appears at their home. This stranger, played by Aaron Pierre, wants to learn more about their marriage. He wants to hear about their darkest secrets, and anything they say about each other, themselves, or their marriage will remain confidential.
That leads to Junior getting the offer of a lifetime. He has the opportunity to go into space, but the company sending him there doesn’t want Hen to be left alone the whole time. She will have a version of him. A robot.
Will they take this stranger up on the offer? Do they really have a choice? What happens when Hen is left alone with a robot for a husband—can he do everything that she needs and will he become a better version of her husband?
Get ready for a movie that will leave you with questions about humanity and the existence of beings around us. Get ready for a movie that leaves you with complicated emotions that will require another watch to work through them. It’s certainly worth it all.
Foe is on Prime Video on Friday, Jan. 5.
