If you missed Beacon 23 on MGM+, you’re not alone. This is one of those shows that went under the radar, arguably mostly due to the streaming platform that it’s on. MGM+ isn’t one of the most well-known platforms.
It is a series that’s worth checking out, though. The series has been renewed for a second season, so now is the time to watch it. The cast itself with Lena Headey and Stephan James in the leads will be enough to draw you in.
Of course, before you get into a new show, you want to get an idea of what it’s about. This is based on the novel of the same name by Hugh Howey, the man behind the Wool trilogy, which has become Silo on Apple TV+.
What is Beacon 23 about?
The series follows Aster and Halan, played by Headey and James. They are on a “lighthouse” at the far end of the universe. They act as beacons for passing spaceships, and the two are strangers to each other.
Aster finds herself on this lighthouse, only to realize that she’s not alone. A stoic ex-military man, Halan, is also there. Of course, Halan doesn’t trust Aster, and he’s sure that she’s up to something.
Aster is certainly there for another agenda. The question is what that agenda is. She can easily disguise it, but can Halan get to the bottom of the situation before its too late?
The whole first season is now available to stream on MGM+. Don’t worry about getting into it and having a cliffhanger ending that won’t be resolved. MGM+ has confirmed a second season is happening. We’ll get it in April 2024!
Beacon 23 is available to stream on MGM+, which is available via Amazon Channels.
