If you were hoping to watch The Perfect Couple on Prime Video, I’m sorry to disappoint. This series is a Netflix Original Series, which also means it is unlikely to come to DVD or Digital.

That doesn’t mean you can’t immerse yourself into the universe another way, though. The series is based on a novel of the same name by Elin Hildebrand. That’s the book that you need to get, and yes, there are some changes within the TV series.

Characters’ names change in The Perfect Couple

If you look at the list of characters in the TV series, you’ll see that there is a name that doesn’t appear in the book. Amelia Sacks is not a character in Hildebrand’s novel. This is the name change from Celeste Otis, and it’s not clear why that happened in the writing of the series. The Chief of Police also sees a name change, and there are sure to be others.

If a character’s name has been changed, what else has? This is why it could be worth reading the source material before the show to see all the details that change along the way. Book changes are normal, but that doesn’t mean we have to like them all—especially when the changes don’t seem necessary.

The Perfect Couple by Elin Hildebrand

Hildebrand’s novel does include some characters from other books. The good news is that this is a standalone story. You don’t need to read the other books to understand motivations or who people are. Hildebrand does a good job at making sure each individual book is accessible for those just getting into her works.

Of course, if you want to learn more, you can. There are a lot of stories out there, and Hildebrand has a wonderful knack for the genre.

Now you just need to decide whether you’ll read the book first or binge-watch the show on Netflix.
