Everything streaming on Prime Video this week (August 19–25)

Amazon is clearly getting ready for the last week of the month. That’s when the biggest original of 2024 arrives on Prime Video. Until then, we have a few movies to get through.

Yes, we just have to get through to Thursday Aug. 29. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 will premiere. It’s understandable that Amazon is keeping things on the quieter side this week, but that doesn’t mean there is nothing to watch.

Plenty of sports, some older thrillers

If you’re into sports, there is some great news. There are a few fixtures happening throughout the week.

Those who love the WNBA will be happy to hear that there is a game airing on Thursday, Aug. 22. For the soccer fans out there, a game airs the following day on Aug. 23.

There is also a Thursday Night Football special running. This is one of the pre-season games that Amazon gets to air. The actual season will start up in September, and all Thursday games will stream exclusively on Prime Video.

But what about other content? The Amazon Original Series arriving is called Classified, and it’s a series that focuses on a young girl who moves from San Francisco to South Africa. It’s out of the frying pan and into the fire, as Ella learns the ways of South Africa and understands the troubles in the country. Meanwhile, she has to decide whether she wants to help her mom get to the bottom of a terrorist plot.

There are also a couple of movies arriving throughout the week. If you’re into horror, you’ll want to check out 10 Cloverfield Lane. Yes, this is the same one from eight years ago. Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars as Michelle, a woman who survives a car accident only to find herself trapped in a bunker with two men who are desperate to keep her inside. One of them tells her the air outside is unbreathable, but is it really?
