There isn't a new episode of The Penguin on tonight, but here's when it's back

You’ve watched the first episode and now you want more. The Penguin has immediately struck as a promising show.

So, it’s understandable that you’re tuning into HBO tonight to watch the next episode. There is some bad news, though. There isn’t a new episode on tonight, Thursday, Sept. 26.

This has nothing to do with watching it via Amazon Channels. It’s not on HBO at all. As of this week, the schedule is changing a little. It’s not clear why HBO has opted to do this—it’s not often that HBO does something like this—but there isn’t much longer left to wait for the second episode.

The Penguin is moving to Sunday nights

You can watch The Penguin Episode 2 on Sunday, Sept. 29. The episode will air at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO, and it will stream on Max at the same time and then afterward. You can watch it with Amazon Channels at 9 p.m. ET/PT with your Max subscription.

From this point, the episodes are going to air weekly on Sundays. It’s a standard viewing for HBO subscribers. Sunday nights are the big nights for shows on this streamer, so it did, arguably, feel a little off having it on Thursday last week.

There are eight episodes in total in this limited series. And yes, it is billed as a limited series. The finale is set to air on Sunday, Nov. 10. Don’t expect this series to land a second season. It has been crafted as a miniseries. While HBO has picked up limited series for a second season in the past, The Penguin is set within the world of The Batman movie, which has a sequel coming out in 2026. So, the story told in this season needs to work for the movie storyline.

The Penguin now airs Sundays at 9/8c on HBO and Max on Amazon Channels.
