Disney announces the release date for Inside Out 2 on DVD and Blu-ray (get the details)
The emotions are back in action, and there is no doubt that you’ll want to watch it. Mind you, you’ve already seen Inside Out 2 in theaters, right? Your kids dragged you there on opening weekend, and if they’re like mine, they’ve pulled you back for a second or third time!
Well, it’s almost time to be able to watch it at home. Disney has announced the Digital and DVD release dates for this Pixar movie.
There isn’t long left to wait for the Digital release. That comes out on Tuesday, Aug. 20. However, I’d urge you to wait for the Blu-ray or Steelbook versions of the movie as they have some exciting bonus features.
Pre-order Inside Out 2 on DVD and Blu-ray
Let’s start with the release of the movie on DVD and Blu-ray. Of course, there’s also the Steelbook version, which includes a silhouette of Riley’s head to showcase all her emotions.
You can get this on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Amazon is the place to pre-order this, so you can get it with the price guarantee. When you order it with Amazon Prime, you’ll also land free shipping so it will be delivered by Wednesday, Sept. 11.
There are combo packs, which includes the digital code. So, if you can wait for the physical release, then you’ll get at least two versions of the movie for the price of one.
Inside Out 2 bonus features
This release is packed with bonus features, which are great for both adults and children.
Let’s start with the ones that the kids are going to love. It’s all about the deleted scenes, which are:
A cold open – an alternate opening that features 13-year-old Riley awkwardly fumbling her way through the opening song for a school audition.
Broken Joy – a moment where Joy worries that she’s malfunctioning
Pool Party – Riley tries too hard at the pool party of an older teen, leading to her Anxiety turning into Self-Loathing.
Puberty Park – Joy and the other rogue emotions find their faces printed on “wanted posters” as they are chased by mind worker cops through the puberty-themed amusement park.
Shame Spiral – Riley and her friends play a game of “Never Have I Ever,” which plays with Riley’s mind.
The next two are great for the adults to understand more about the creation of Inside Out 2.
The bonus feature “Unlocking the Vault” is a visual commentary with a group of central creatives discussing the vault. It takes a look at the IP versions used in the scenes and memories of Bloofy and Lance Slashblade. There’s also a look at using 2D animation in a 3D world.
Then there’s the featurette “New Emotions.” This takes a look at the new emotions that come into the world of Riley’s mind. The creators talk about narrowing down the list of potential emotions and figuring out the way the new emotions will look and act.
