Amazon adds more than 10 titles to Freevee today (September 1)

September is certainly a month for the kids when it comes to Freevee releases. There are 13 titles coming to Freevee on Sunday, Sept. 1, with many of them being movies for the kids.

There are movies for others as well. There are a couple of adult comedies that are sure to be a treat, and there are a couple of horrors that you’ll want to check out without the kids around. However, this is a great streaming platform if you have younger members of the family you want to keep out of trouble.

Madagascar, Megamind, and more

Let’s start with Madagascar for the whole family. This 2005 movie remains a firm favorite for many, and it’s good fun for all ages. It follows a group of zoo animals in New York who end up in the Madagascar jungles. Suddenly, they need to figure out how to make living in the wild work. It’s a great reminder of why animals in zoos are often there. Not all zoos are bad—just the ones that mistreat their animals.

There is also the penguins spin-off. These additions to the Madagascar franchise were so much fun in small doses that they got their own movie. Put on Penguins of Madagascar for the kids.

Still need something else? How about a story of a villain who learns that it’s better to be a good guy. We’re not talking about Despicable Me. Instead, it’s all about Megamind.

Okay, so what about something for the adults in the family? The First Purge is one for those who love the Purge franchise. This is one of the sequels but it takes place right at the beginning, before the first movie starring Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey. The movie picks up with people involved in the first ever event. How quickly did everyone take to it?

There’s also Winchester, which tells the story of Sarah Winchester, the heiress to the Winchester fortune. No, this isn’t a Supernatural movie. This is about the real Winchester family. Sort of. It’s inspired by the mystery of the house, and in this movie, Sarah is building an asylum for hundreds of vengeful ghosts who have a score to settle with the family.
