Is the Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead remake on Amazon after theaters?
The remake of Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead is now out in theaters. Of course, viewers want to know where it will stream at home.
This appears to be a straight remake of the original 1991 movie. It’s led to questions about whether it’s really needed considering the 1991 movie is a classic, but we’re in the world of remakes and revivals.
The original movie followed Sue Ellen “Swell” Crandell, who is unable to go on a summer vacation with her friends. Instead, the 17-year-old ends up looking after her siblings after her mom heads off on an Australian vacation with her boyfriend. Her mom did hire a live-in babysitter for the time, called Mrs. Sturak.
As you would expect, Mrs. Sturak turns out to be a tyrant. The siblings don’t need to deal with her for too long when she dies in her sleep. The kids now look forward to a summer of fun, but they need to make sure that nobody finds out that the babysitter is dead.
Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead could head to Prime Video
It’s not clear where this movie is going to stream, but it is likely to head to a streaming platform. The movie isn’t from one of the big production houses, and it isn’t being distributed by one of the big companies. Without a deal with a specific streamer, it means the movie is opened up to them all.
This opens the door for Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead to come to Prime Video. It would suit the streamer well with the genre and storytelling.
Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead will come to Amazon Video
As a movie coming out in theaters, we can expect a Digital release. That means it will head to Amazon Instant Video in the future. This is the place to buy and rent movies and is completely separate from Prime Video.
We don’t yet have an exact date. These smaller movies tend to only take one to two months to head to Digital, though, so we’re expecting it sometime in the middle of June at the latest.
