Shining Vale fans got some bad news from STARZ. The premium cable network has opted to cancel the supernatural comedy after just two seasons.

That’s not the worst of it. The two seasons of the series that have aired will be removed from the streaming platform. It will not be available to watch anywhere.

That’s led to calls to save the series in some way. Is there a chance that Amazon could step in? It sounds like there is some more terrible news for fans of the show.

Amazon won’t save Shining Vale

As Deadline reported the news of the cancellation, it also shared that Warner Bros. TV has already attempted to shop the show around. There have been no takers for the series.

The reason for the cancellation is the same as so many other cancellations. There weren’t enough people watching it to grant it a third season. That doesn’t explain why the show is set to be removed from STARZ, though. That likely comes down to residual payments as contracts changed in favor of the actors and writers after the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.

Could Amazon at least save the series to make sure it’s available to watch somewhere since it is currently available via Amazon Channels? That could potentially happen, but it probably won’t. There doesn’t seem to be any move to release the season anywhere else. If anywhere, it’s like to be the FAST channels, which are the ad-supported streamers that are free to watch on, such as Freevee and Tubi.

There is some good news. The first season is available to buy on Digital via Amazon Instant Video, so you can at least watch the episodes. There is a chance that the second season will be released in this format, too. That will depend on the terms of the episodes being removed from STARZ.
