When Citadel Season 1 came to an end, we knew that the wait for Season 2 would be long. However, the franchise itself would drop a series. We just had to wait until 2024 for Citadel: Diana.

That wait is almost over. This is one of Amazon’s most ambitious projects, especially when it comes to international originals, and the teaser trailer certainly makes the show look thrilling and intriguing. The question is whether it can live up to expectations, or if it will fall flat like Citadel did.

Citadel: Diana will premiere in October 2024

Amazon is bringing some big action shows in the fall. We already learned that November would see the premiere of Cross. Now we’ve learned that October is the month for Citadel: Diana.

The Italian original will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 10. What’s not clear based on Variety’s report is whether this is dropping as a binge-watch or if we’ll get weekly instalments. Citadel was released weekly, but Amazon hasn’t been consistent with the release schedules of shows.

There are six episodes to this series, and it isn’t billed as a limited series. This could mean more to the story if fans love it, and I do think a weekly release is better if Amazon wants to see this franchise grow.

Take a look at the teaser trailer for Citadel: Diana

The teaser trailer gives us a look at the basic storyline, along with some car chases, fight scenes, and more.

Take a look:

The series picks up in Milan in 2030. Diana Cavalieri works for Citadel, but she is an undercover spy at Manticore. Here is where it gets tricky. Eight years earlier, Manticore wiped out Citadel. Now Diana is trapped behind enemy lines, and there is only one person she can trust. Will Edo Zani get her out of trouble? He is the heir of Manticore Italy, but is it possible that he doesn’t agree with the way his family runs the business?

Diana was chosen by Citadel because she doesn’t like injustice. She will do whatever she can to fight it, but Manticore is all about doing what’s best for its people rather than others. Does Edo follow a different opinion, or is this all a trap to figure out which side Diana is really on?

Citadel was set to launch a franchise across countries with Citadel: Diana as the first spin-off. Citadel: Honey Bunny is currently in the works, which is the Indian version. With the original series not picking up the way it was expected, it’s possible that Amazon will want to see how the Italian series does before picking up more in the franchise.
