There are a lot of versions of the Cinderella fairy tale. Amazon brought a modern-day version of the story. While it is partially set in a world that looks like the past, there are some modern elements to it. The story itself has a modern twist.

In this one, Ella doesn’t want to find her prince. She’s not searching for true love. Her dream is to own her own business. She wants to become a dressmaker, and she will do whatever she can to make it possible. That includes turning down a proposal from a prince because it means she’ll never be able to follow her dream.

Even some of the other characters’ storylines have changed. The prince doesn’t necessarily want to be king, and the evil stepmother may not be evil just for the sake of it but has a bit of a backstory of her own.

On top of that, there are some excellent covers of popular songs. There’s no doubt you’ll find yourself singing along.

It’s a great story for the whole family. This is a movie to put on to empower and encourage young girls (in fact, everyone!) to follow their dreams.
