What could have been had four of the most iconic Black men in 1960s American had got together? What would they have talked about? That’s the story One Night in Miami.

The movie is a fictionalized telling of a meeting in 1964. It all comes off the back of the men facing racism or humiliation in their careers, and all four want to make some changes. But what changes can they make?

There are also tensions between them. This isn’t just one chat where they get to put a plan together to change things. It’s one of discovery and understanding. They need to see how others see them. More importantly, how Black people see them. These men may all want something similar, but they don’t have the same views or opinions on how to get there, and that’s what makes this movie so powerful.

It’s a heavy story. It’s a character-driven and a story-driven movie that is an outstanding debut from Regina King. There is no doubt that you need to check it out.
