Despite the low critic reviews, The Goldfinch is a beautiful movie that most definitely belongs on this list. Based on the novel of the same name, it tells the story of a 13-year-old boy who has to continue living after his mom is killed in a bombing at an art gallery. The only thing he has left is a painting.

The painting is the most important part of the movie. It helps to push Theo forward and helps him make various decisions.

The movie is one about love and loss. It’s about finding friends afterward and learning to love and trust again. There are deep complexities within the movie that you’ll need to watch it at least twice to fully understand. It’s going to be one of those you notice something different with each viewing.

If you’ve read the novel, this is most definitely a movie to watch. If you haven’t read the novel yet, I’d recommend holding off until you’ve seen the movie. The book goes into far more detail, which just couldn’t fit into the movie.
