There was a lot working against Knives Out at first glance. It had a high-profile cast that could have ended up being a gimmick and it was in a genre that is often known for being over the top and predictable. And yet, Knives Out became one of the best movies of 2019.

The all-star cast was certainly not a gimmick; all having great roles and utterly despicable but fun characters. We got to see some of our favorite actors in different lights, getting a chance to see their acting skills.

Then there was the story, which could have been badly written and over the top. Instead, the murder mystery element took us on a wild ride. It was brilliantly fused with twists and turns we didn’t see coming, bringing elements of the Agatha Christie murder mysteries we’ve come to know and low. It allowed us to think but also just sit back and enjoy at the same time.

It’s not often that a movie will see critics and audiences agree, especially in this genre. Knives Out surpassed expectations and became a must-watch for everyone.
