Amelie was a huge worldwide success. Despite its small budget, the film grossed more than $170 million in theaters around the world. Remember, this was back in the early 2000s when movies were much cheaper than they are now, too!

Amelie was also nominated for five Oscars, including Best Foreign Language Film and Best Original Screenplay. The film, unfortunately, did not win any awards, but it definitely deserved a couple.
