Sometimes you just want a sweet romantic movie that has a bit of drama. Chemical Hearts is going to offer that. It’s all about a teenager who fancies himself as a romantic. The problem is that he’s never been in love.
He has this certain view of a girl who will be the one for him. Love doesn’t always work that way. What happens when he realizes that the girl of his dreams is the new girl in school?
That girl has a lot of secrets and trauma. She’s still trying to find herself, but the boy has a certain view of how he’d like her to be. Will she give into his requests or will he learn that his views aren’t what happens in real life?
The movie has certainly received some mixed reviews. However, it’s a good adaptation of the source material and offers some realism in the world of teenage love. There is a little bit of work that could have been done in some of the dialogue, though.
