A Cruel Intentions reboot series was announced back in 2021. We finally have a casting update, an episode count, and much more.

Things are moving forward with the Cruel Intention series. This was announced back in 2021, with it planned for IMDb TV, which was the name for Freevee back in the day. However, there was always the chance that it would move to Amazon’s fee-based subscription service instead of the free one.

That’s what is happening. Deadline reports the move along with a few more updates about the series. It’s time to delve into everything we know about the series.

Which streamer will Cruel Intentions air on?

The series will now air on Prime Video instead of Freevee. This isn’t that surprising with the cost of production. Amazon is going to put the bigger and more expensive shows on the platform that charges a subscription instead of makes money via ads.

Freevee is only available in the U.S. and UK at the moment, though. It was always likely to head to Prime Video in other parts of the world, similarly to Bosch: Legacy.

How many episodes will the Cruel Intentions series have?

The episode is now set. We’ll get eight episodes in the series, which matches a lot of other Amazon Original Series.

This is a great amount of episodes to tell a contained story and allow for character development. With hope, it will be a huge hit like the first movie and bring more seasons to continue the development of characters.

Who stars in the reboot series?

The main cast has now been confirmed. We don’t know details about their characters just yet, though.

Sarah Catherine Hook, Zac Burgess, Savannah Lee Smith, Sara Silva, Khobe Clarke, John Harlan Kim, Brooke Lena Johnson, and Sean Patrick Thomas make up the main cast.

Claire Forlani, Isabella Tagliati, Nikki Crawford, Jon Tenney, and Zeke Goodman will recur in the series.

What is Cruel Intentions on Prime Video about?

As originally stated when picked up, the series will be set in college instead of high school. The new adaptation takes place in an elite college in Washington, D.C., where two step-siblings will do whatever it takes to remain on top of the social hierarchy.

A hazing ritual goes brutally wrong, threatening the entire system at the college. Now the two will need to do what they can to save both reputation and power. That means one of them seducing the daughter of the United States Vice President!
