Will Genie come to DVD and Blu-ray?
Genie is now available to stream on Peacock, but what other options will you have of watching it? Is this a movie that will come to DVD and Blu-ray?
There are some great holiday movies coming out right now. Peacock has joined in with Genie, which is based on the British made for TV movie Bernard and the Genie.
Wouldn’t you just love to have some sort of supernatural being come out of the woodwork to grant you all your wishes? That’s something Bernard gets, giving him a chance to turn his life around. Melissa McCarthy is the titular character, who has been trapped inside a jewelry box for the last 2,000 years.
She’s willing to grant Bernard unlimited wishes. All she wants is to learn more about the world that has passed her by while she’s been trapped. Can she help Bernard get the life that he really wants?
Is Genie coming to DVD and Blu-ray?
Usually with a movie, we look at when it could arrive on DVD and Blu-ray. That’s not the case with this one. Instead, we need to look at the chances of it heading to DVD and Blu-ray in the future. You see, as a Peacock Original Movie, there’s a chance that it will never come to physical disc.
It’s hard to say which way Peacock will go with this one. We have seen the likes of Bel-Air get a DVD release, but we’ve also seen plenty of content on the streamer not get that sort of release. It doesn’t always make sense for the streamers to release content on DVD as it gives people a way to avoid the streamer. With so many streaming platforms out there now and the model changing in the wake of the SAG-AFTRA strike, the way things work will likely change.
