Is Genie starring Melissa McCarthy on Amazon?

Melissa McCarthy has another movie for us all to watch and love. It’s all about Genie, but where can you stream the new film?

Are you ready for a Christmas-themed comedy flick? Of course, you are. It’s time for Melissa McCarthy’s Genie. Well, almost. The movie premieres on Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Based on the British TV movie Bernard and the Genie, this new movie follows Paapa Essiedu’s Bernard, whose life is in a mess. His wife has left him, he’s missed his daughter’s birthday, and he’s been fired. He needs a miracle to turn his life around.

Well, when he stumbles upon a jewelry box, he accidentally unleashes a genie called Flora (McCarthy), who is able to give him unlimited wishes. She’s been stuck in that box for 2000 years, and she’s ready to understand this whole new world that she is in while she helps Bernard turn his life around.

Is Genie on Prime Video?

We do have to start this post with some bad news. It is not possible to watch the movie on Prime Video.

Instead, it’s coming directly to another streaming platform. You’ll be able to watch it on Peacock. This is a Peacock Original Movie, which means that it is likely not going to head to Prime Video in the future. The two streamers would need to combine, or Peacock would need to license it to Prime Video.

We have seen some Peacock content head to Prime Video internationally, though.

Is Genie on Amazon Video?

There is another way to watch content on Amazon, though. It’s all about Amazon Instant Video. This is where you can buy or rent the movies.

It’s unlikely that Genie will get a digital release, though. This doesn’t make sense for a streaming platform. While some Peacock content has been released on DVD, we’ve not seen it released on digital, just like many other streaming platforms.

Genie is available to stream on Peacock on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
