Could Amazon save the Six of Crows series?
Fans of the Grishaverse were excited to hear that Netflix had greenlit a Six of Crows series. That’s now not happening, but could Amazon save it?
As work went on for Shadow and Bone Season 2, fans of the book series learned that there would be a Six of Crows spin-off. There is no doubt that this is what we needed, and it was sure to pull in the Peaky Blinders fans out there.
However, there is some bad news. With the cancellation of Shadow and Bone came the cancellation of the spin-off series. Is that it, though? Is there a chance that Amazon could step in and save the Six of Crows series?
Amazon probably won’t save Six of Crows
It’s likely some bad news for fans of the Grishaverse who were excited to see the spin-off. Despite the show having scripts already written, it’s unlikely that Amazon will step in and save the show.
There are a lot of things that work against Amazon picking it up. The first is that this series and Shadow and Bone Season 3 were going to run simultaneously. This suggests that there could be some crossover between the storylines. With Shadow and Bone canceled, it makes sense that the spin-off is canceled too.
On top of that, it doesn’t even look like the series is being shopped around. Usually when it’s looking for a new home, the publications make that clear. Entertainment Weekly didn’t mention anything like that in its cancellation news. So it doesn’t even look like it’s up for Amazon to save.
If Amazon was going to save Six of Crows, it would likely need to save Shadow and Bone too. That’s much harder to do. There are usually stipulations in the contracts to prevent streaming shows going to another streamer for a few years.
