Spike, Cordelia, Drusilla, and many others will return in Slayers: A Buffyverse Story via Audible. What is this audiobook series going to be about?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer may have ended 20 years ago, but it hasn’t been forgotten about. The series continued in the form of comic books and books, and now we’re getting a new addition to the franchise.

Amber Benson has co-written Slayers: A Buffyverse Story. She’ll also return as one of the voices—yes, Tara is back! The series itself is a Spike-led series, though, and it’s not in the form of TV or movie. Instead, it’s an audiobook series that you’ll be able to find on Audible.

Audible is Amazon’s audiobook platform. This is the only place to get the series when it releases on Thursday, Oct. 12.

What is Slayers: A Buffyverse Story about?

Wait, didn’t Spike die at the end of Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Well, he did, but he came back in Angel‘s final season and he was there at the end. There are other characters who definitely died in either Buffy or Angel, so you’re sure to wonder just how everyone is coming back.

The story is set in LA, with Spike underground. He’s pretending to be the big bad vampire that he used to be to protect himself, but his actions aren’t fooling everyone. Indira Nunnally (voiced by Laya DeLeon Hayes) comes to him looking for help. She’s a 16-year-old Slayer and she needs someone to train her. She’s eager to learn, and Spike has to be the best option, right?

Spike doesn’t think so. He needs to find her watcher, but that leads to him colliding with a veteran Slayer who isn’t Buffy. It turns out they’re in a parallel reality where Buffy never existed. Cordelia Chase is the one-and-only Slayer—remember, all the potentials were awakened as Slayers in the series finale.

There’s also a classic big bad out there terrorizing the world. Yes, Drusilla is back.

Is Anya responsible for the parallel universe? That was the case last time when Cordelia wished for Buffy to never come to Sunnydale. So, what is going on in this strange alternate reality, and can Spike fix it before it’s too late?
