Sitting in Bars with Cake arrives at the end of the week, and it looks perfect for teaching young girls about female friendship. Is it suitable for kids?

As much as we would love to say that it doesn’t, media influences a lot of the opinions we gain. It is certainly an influence when it comes to relationships, whether platonic or romantic. We get an idea of how we should be with other people and what friendship is all about.

When it comes to positive female friendships, there aren’t so many movies and shows of the past that offer something to get inspiration from. That has changed over the years, though, and Sitting in Bars with Cake is a great example. Now you just want to make sure that it’s going to be suitable for the younger girls in your house.

Sitting in Bars with Cake age rating

It’s worth looking at the official age rating for Sitting in Bars with Cake. It is rated PG-13, which means that it is suitable for children 13 and older. However, it could also be suitable for younger viewers. It’s going to be up to you as a parent as to whether you let your children watch it.

There are some sexual references and strong language in this. There may also be some drug use. This is a movie focused on two twenty-somethings, so that’s not all too surprising. There isn’t any nudity in the movie, though. Violence will also be minimal, but there are some big thematic moments and a health issue that your children will likely want to talk about afterward. After all, this movie involves one of the main females facing a scary, life-threatening illness.
