The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 is not coming to Prime Video in September 2023
In some good news, The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 is happening. In some bad news, we have a long wait for it on Prime Video.
Last month, Amazon confirmed that The Summer I Turned Pretty would be renewed for a third season. The renewal actually happened before the SAG-AFTRA strike happened, but fans didn’t get the official news until last month.
Now eyes are on when it could arrive. It shouldn’t be that surprising to hear that The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 will not premiere this month. We didn’t even need to check the list of September releases to know that it wouldn’t be there.
When will The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 come to Prime Video?
As of right now, we can’t say when to expect the show. If this was a regular year, we would have said some time next summer. It looked like the original plan was to bring out one season each summer. After all, there is “summer” in the title of the show.
The current strike action is putting a hold on everything. The WGA is on strike, so episodes can’t be written. The SAG-AFTRA actors are on strike, so even if there were scripts, they couldn’t be filmed just yet. It’s not clear when the strike action could come to an end, so the show is in limbo.
Amazon has canceled The Peripheral and A League of Their Own due to the delays. We don’t see this series being canceled, though. While there will be a delay from 2024, Amazon will need to keep some shows going as everything that was set to come out next year is likely to be delayed. Plus, this isn’t a freshman show that could struggle to keep its audience. Fans of the books immediately tuned into the series.
The third season will follow the third and final book in Jenny Han’s Summer trilogy. Will Belly and Jeremiah stay together after she chose him? You’ll need to wait to find out.
The Summer I Turned Pretty is available to stream on Prime Video.
