There is always the risk that streaming originals will disappear, so we want the DVDs. Will The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 come to DVD and Blu-ray?

For a long time, we didn’t think we’d have to worry too much about streaming shows. For as long as the platforms would be available, so would the shows. And if the platforms disappeared, whoever bought the content would get the streaming rights. And did we really think Amazon would struggle to keep going?

Then Max announced that it would remove some of its streaming content. Disney+, Hulu, and Paramount+ have followed suit. We worry that other streaming platforms will do the same, so now we want as much content on DVD as possible.

The problem is not all streaming platforms will release their content on DVD and Blu-ray. Prime Video content is a little hit and miss. What does that mean for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2?

Don’t expect a release to happen. The first season didn’t arrive on DVD and Blu-ray, so there’s no need to think that the second season will.

Of course, Amazon has surprised us in the past. The first two seasons of The Boys came to DVD just ahead of the release of the third season on the streamer. We didn’t expect that to be the case. It’s possible that we could see Amazon do something similar with other shows.

However, for now, we’re expecting the show to remain exclusive to the streaming platform. It’s not like we’re expecting to see Amazon remove this show, anyway. It’s just been renewed for a third season, so it wouldn’t make sense to remove the other seasons. It’s once that third season is out that we’ll really want the DVD release, assuming the third season is the last.
