Will Silo Season 1 come to DVD and Blu-ray?
Silo Season 1 is certainly a series worth getting Apple TV+ for. Now the question is whether you’ll be able to add it to your DVD collection or not.
For the longest time, people said that DVDs were dying out. Well, they’re really not. As streaming platforms remove content, we need the DVDs to be able to watch the shows whenever we want.
The latest one to check out is Silo on Apple TV+. The series is based on the Wool book series by Hugh Howey. Set years in the future, everyone is now living underground as the Earth’s air is toxic and the land has become a barren wasteland. At least, that’s what the people are told.
Is there a chance that the world outside is different? That’s what you’ll want to watch the show to find out. What if you don’t have an Apple TV+ membership, though? You’ll want to know if the show will head to DVD and Blu-ray.
Silo Season 1 probably won’t come to DVD and Blu-ray
While there has been the odd show to head to DVD and Blu-ray, very few Apple TV+ Originals are released in this way. It’s highly unlikely that Silo Season 1 will come out on DVD and Blu-ray. We just have to look at other multi-season shows like For All Mankind and See to get a sense of what Apple TV+ does.
It doesn’t make a lot of business sense for streamers to release content in a way that takes people from the subscription. Arguably, DVD releases don’t do that. It’s the Digital releases that would. DVD releases offer a way to watch shows when the internet goes down or when the streamers remove their content.
The good news is you can get the books. They’re certainly worth investing in, especially as we wait for the second season, which is now stuck in the strike action.
Silo is only available to stream on Apple TV+.
