Will Good Omens be renewed for Season 3?
You can now binge-watch Good Omens Season 2, and you’ll likely want more once you do. Will there be a third season of the fantasy series?
We didn’t initially expect a second season of Good Omens. The Amazon series was billed as a limited series, and even Neil Gaiman seemed to think that it would be a one and done. The story was complete.
Then we got the surprising news of a renewal. The second season is based on an unpublished sequel to the story, something that wasn’t finished before Sir Terry Pratchett’s death. Does this mean that we could expect more of Crowley and Aziraphale?
Will Good Omens Season 3 happen?
It’s hard to say whether we should expect the third season or not. Remember that it was initially billed as a limited series. There wasn’t even supposed to be a second season.
There are a few things working against a third season right now. The strike action isn’t one of them, though! This isn’t a SAG series, so there is a chance that contract negotiations can happen to get it off the ground.
However, there isn’t a known third story involving Crowley and Aziraphale. The second season is based on a second book. We know Jon Hamm’s Gabriel wasn’t in the first book but he was taken from the second book to use him in the first season. There isn’t another story that will work as a basis for the third season, and this could put everyone off making it.
Amazon will want to see what the interest in the second season is like, first. It could be that not enough people tune in for the second season. It could also be that few people enjoy it as it just doesn’t quite hit the mark of the first season. We’ll keep an eye on Amazon’s plans for the show.
Good Omens is available to stream on Prime Video.
